The story behind the brand

The story behind the brand

The Anderson Ross journey began in 2016, built on the belief that the standard watch could be better designed.  The name itself is taken from the maiden names of the founder’s two grandmothers, and was a nod to the fact that so many watch brands are named after their male founders. Initial design motivation covered moving the crown (or “winder”) to where it wouldn’t cause irritation on the back of the hand, and perhaps more significantly, rotating the dial.

A casual study of how family and friends naturally looked at a mark placed on their wrist suggested the 12 o’clock position ought to move to where the 3 or 4 minute marker would normally be (rotating the dial 20 degrees clockwise).  This became the key principle of the Anderson Ross watch.

Over time additional principles were added, including a commitment to using sustainable materials where possible, and advertising watches as gender neutral rather than “Gent's” or “Women's”.

The mission of Anderson Ross is to produce watches designed without compromise, and sold without prejudice.
